The Teel House is one of Norwich's landmark buildings. Its history is very interesting, briefly: built as a "hotel" in 1789, in the (then) undeveloped area between Norwichtown and the harbor; later became a small boarding school; later an impressive residence; later a Parsonage; later the Headmaster's residence for Norwich Free Academy;now a great single family residence. Please see the Property Documents for interesting information on the history and architecture of this special property. The architecture is just as impressive as the history: 8 fireplaces, many with marble surrounds; gracious center hall plan; remarkably intact 20'x40' ballroom / assembly room. Located on the Chelsea Parade Green in the Chelsea Parade National Register Historic District.
