High Plains Cattle Ranch The High Plains Cattle Ranch, located just outside of Malta, is a third generation family owned ± 475 cattle unit operation. This productive ± 13,212 acre ranch has a well-maintained ranch headquarters with three homes and additional improvements. Deeded acreage as well as BLM and State leased acres form a series of pastures for ease of cattle movement. The cattle receive water by a system of stock ponds, reservoirs, and small creeks. The grazing ground is complimented by some flood irrigated acreage that helps provide some hay production. In addition to income received from the cattle operation, the ranch receives income from annual CRP payments.
