I have been building houses in Abiquiu for 28 years. After viewing a Beautiful stone chicken coup nestled in a remote mesa setting, I set out to find the Creator. I actually went door to door inquiring as to the builder. My search led me to a humble trailer in Abiquiu where I had the great fortune to meet Felipe Leyva, who would become my building partner. I showed him my photo of "The Coup" and asked if he could build something for Me? I came to understand nothing was impossible for Felipe. I started designing and building lovely adobe and stone structures with him. Through this process I found My Creative Spirit! When Felipe and I started going in different directions I believed I would build with no one else. We had a young man on our crew who proved himself to be Incredibly talented. He had very little experience but was smart and resourceful. Miguel Palacios and I started building together and our combined talents led the way to "One-of-a-Kind Works of Art." An Original and Unique design by Pat Frazier Pat Frazier had a vision for every house she created. She followed each vision doggedly and with integrity. The result is a series of houses that can be recognized by a few common features but more importantly by that integrity as a whole work. The White House at first sight is dominated by its wonderful roof that protects it and the surrounding porches that make desert living a pleasure. Rain and sun are kept a proper distance from the walls. Throughout the day and throughout the seasons there will always be a side that will provide a warm or cool environment that is welcome. The stone-clad adobe walls are an identifying feature found in most (all) of her houses. It is a unique and permanent method to protect adobe from the elements. It is not quite right to call these walls or any cluster of features Pat’s style because style is a word that just does not fit with her work. The White House reaches out into its yard marked by the garden wall of stone pillars and wood latias. The stones are as carefully laid as those in the house walls. The Airstream occupies its careful niche. The garden wall sends a fine message that the owner need not go beyond them: nature will maintain the original landscaping just fine. Inside the house ….
