Welcome to the Highlands and this gorgeous MidCentury Modern Eichler. Available now. The house is an expanded 4 bedroom 2 bath house with 2 car garage and over 2650 sqft of living space. Most Eichlers are closer to 1400-1600 square feet. This one has had all of the bedrooms expanded, and the living room has been expanded massively. This house was built in 1961 originally, but underwent a multi-year remodel (all the way down to the slab) in 2010-2011. No expense we spared, and the house really shines with full hardwood floors throughout (even in the closets, not a single piece of carpet in the whole house), massive luxury master bath with a huge soaking tub with jets, and a colossal master walk in closet. The kitchen is fantastic, with all high end Thermador Professional appliances, a wine fridge, two ovens with convection, a 6 burner gas cooktop, deep sink, and a massive amount of counter space and storage. The house has four bedrooms, all of which are generously sized, but featuring a HUGE master suite with a sitting room with pocket doors and a remote controlled gas fireplace in the bedroom. Heat is floor radiant heat (copper, not steel) which keeps the house nice and warm without any of the dust blowing around and allergy issues that comes from forced air. It is also very efficient. The entire roof was replaced two years ago with double foam (even over the garage) which makes the house stay nice and cool in the summers on those few days where it gets hot. There are even two separate water heaters. One for the kitchen and laundry and one for the bathrooms, so you never run out. All of this is nice, but the best part of the house is clearly the view. Situated at the end of a cul-de-sac facing the open space land surrounding the highlands, this house has "infinity" views all the way across the bay. You can watch airplanes land at SFO, and have a commanding view of Black Mountain in Hillsborough. The weather is also incredible in the Highlands. Because of the geography, you never get fog at this house (the part of the Highlands facing 280 gets foggy at times), and it is sheltered from the cool air that comes off Crystal Springs reservoir, so it stays warm without ever really getting hot. The house is right off 280 on the Bunker Hill exit, as well as right near highway 92. This makes it the perfect "middle" of the peninsula. It is an easy, traffic-free shot to Daly City to catch BART to downtown SF, and an easy, counter commute to Silicon Valley on 280. It is even easy to get to 101 quickly, and being next to 92 makes the San Mateo bridge easy to get to. There's a Safeway and restaurants right down the street, and the Highlands is a great place to walk around and be outside. If you don't know about the Highlands, read up a little. We have our own 4th of July parade, fireworks, a community pool and playground, and the Highlands Elementary school is at the end of the street. Truly an incredible neighborhood in a way that generally doesn't exist any more. Now for the details of the rental.
