Originally a summer cottage, I have updated it for full-time living. The shingled main part of the building has a vaulted ceiling and potential for an open floor plan; it is heated by a woodstove (a new natural gas furnace, installed in 2006, serves as backup. The main addition is a 400 sq. foot "great room" with 11 windows and a separate entrance, used for entertaining and relaxing, centered on a gas stove (The Zillow price doesn't factor in the most recent updates: the big room, and the new furnace and septic system, just put in last year. Neighborhood Description We are an association--White Island Shores Community Assn.--with dues of only $75 per year, which allow for unlimited access to our community beach (white sand, great swimming and fishing). We gather during the summer for good fellowship, but in the winter, we tend to hibernate. We prize privacy here, but the neighbors know each other and we pitch in for one another. For instance, last winter someone came by and dug me out after a snowstorm. I still don't know who did it; that's the way we are here: a bit of an old time neighborhood. Lots of safe places for kids to play, but also it is perfect for working at home (cable provides high speed internet).
