    A fixer-upper cottage-style home built on a quiet residential road. Built in 1940, this house has two bedrooms, one bathroom, kitchen, living room, cozy loft attic, and a front and back porch. It sits on .64 acres in the town of Altamont (home of the Altamont Opry!), a Tennessee town on the Cumberland Plateau about halfway between Nashville and Chattanooga. Known as "Mountains of Adventure," this unique setting is nestled in the South Cumberland State Park, and this house is a five minute drive from Stone Door, less than thirty minutes from iconic local venue The Caverns- and about 30 minutes from Bonaroo! The house has a propane line and has been heated with a single propane wall unit. The cost of living here is relatively low- property tax is less than $200/year. Large shade trees surrounding the house help keep it cool in summer- low electric and water bills throughout the year. The house has not been updated since the early 1990's. While the structure of the house is in good shape, here is a catalog of renovations needed: The front and back porches were later additions to the house and the front porch needs repair to the trim and the ramp. The back porch is the biggest problem because it suffered water damage in one area and so some of floor beams need to be replaced. The roof was re-shingled three years ago. The siding of the house is a shingle-like material that probably needs to be removed and updated. The ceiling throughout the house is made of sheet rock and needs to be patched up and repainted in certain areas. The bathroom and kitchen linoleum has cracked and peeled in certain areas as well. The bathtub and shower are operational and the toilet was replaced five years ago. The house sits on a flat rock foundation. In the past ten years of current ownership the pipes have never frozen. The backyard is fenced in strong enough to hold a puppy, small dog, or chickens. Half of the property is forested, and much of the property expresses itself in blackberries- thus given the name "Blackberry Burrow." I hope someone finds this place, who will be happy to burrow there.
