WHAT IS DIFFERENT: Instead of sterilizing the landscape, we are regenerating the environment. Lawn is being replaced with native prairie grasses and wildflowers, and English ivy is being removed in favor of native woodland species. Wildlife is returning with more butterflies and birdsong, plus rabbits, hawks, and deer. It feels like living in the country, but you are in the city with neighbors who also want to support and protect the web of life. The intention is a one of a kind apartment community of older people enjoying, protecting, and supporting nature-led regeneration of the native ecosystem.
APARTMENT FEATURES: Newly renovated, ground floor, all one level. Luxuriously quiet kitchen appliances, under cabinet lighting, garbage disposal, hardwood style flooring (no carpet), custom paint and window treatments. Vaulted living room with large picture window, plenty of closet space with built in shelving, private deck with locking storage closet and electricity, lots of natural light, in unit laundry hookups, central heat and A/C, ceiling fans, approximately 900 sq. ft. of heated living space, and front row assigned off street parking in the lot. The cul de sac location is very good for dog walking.
REALITY CHECK ON CURB APPEAL: Several neighbors in the cul de sac keep their city trash carts near the street curb most of the week, and it does affect the view driving up the cul de sac to our driveway and parking lot. Our landscaping is in the first five years of development as it grows into Doug Tallamy / Piet Oudolf inspired gardens. The rent is set below typical Raleigh 2 bedroom prices to reflect the current appearance while the landscape matures.
SAFETY CONTEXT: Northwest Raleigh is considered a safe, established part of the city, and the property adds multiple motion floods and security cameras per unit. This provides lots of light when needed and multi view camera coverage; neighbors can share camera footage if needed. The parking lot is private and has streetlights.
FIT AND LIFESTYLE: This is a great fit for older people who prioritize peace and quiet, access to nature, a clean, updated home, and a safe neighborhood with a sidewalk to shopping.
