This dairy is located 2 miles east of the town of Seward, Nebraska and 22 mile west of the city of Lincoln, Nebraska. It is permitted with a NPDES for 713 milking cows. The farm has 160 acres, with 120 acres being tillable. This tillable acreage is double cropped with corn and rye. 100 of the 120 acres are irrigated through a center pivot. This pivot uses lagoon water as well as fresh water from 800 gallon/minute irrigation well. The parlor was built in 1999. - designed as a double 15 rapid exit parallel - currently equipped as a double 8 rapid exit parallel - 6000 gallon bulk tank - 2000 gallon bulk tank - 175 KW generator The dairy has 3 wells. 2 for the house and farm and 1 for irrigation. The dairy has 2 Freestall barns. Each milking barn has: - 6 rows, center feed alley - 12 foot side walls - open ridge, curtain sided - sand bedded - the barn has a 3% slope - the alleys in each barn are flushed with recycle lagoon water The south barn was built in 1995. - 300 lock-ups, 376 Freestalls - 4 equal divided pens with individual entry/exit doors The north barn was built in 1999. - 200 lock-ups with 251 Freestalls - the barn can be divided into 2 or 3 group pens. The manure system has 2 sand gravity sloped cells, which reclaim 80 to 85 of the sand. Each cell is 12 x 12 X 2 foot deep. The run off from the sand cells goes into the 70 X 140 X 4 foot deep manure settling basin. The waste water flows into a 20 million gallon lagoon. There are 3 small heifer pens which have 55 lock-ups. - designed to house 1-12 month old calves The pregnant heifer pen has 65 lockups. - opened dirt lot with concrete feed alleys Five bay commodity barn. Two barns for hay storage. Concrete silage slab 200 by 400 foot with a 10,000 ton capacity. Houses - the main red house has 3 bedrooms and a finished basement. - the white house has 4 bedrooms and two 2 bedroom apartments
