Construction began on May 5th and was completed on December 22nd. The house is constructed out of Western Hemlock, with some of the logs being 6x12 hand-hewn and up to 40ft long. We built this home to live in, and it has proven to be a good and comfortable dwelling. It is an Appalachian log package, specifically a modified Hampton 2 design. The roof has 6-inch styrofoam and 3/4-inch OSB, while the upstairs walls are 1 1/2-inch tongue and groove with 2x12 log slabs. Each layer is bolted and pinned together. Downstairs, there is 4-inch styrofoam covered with Param Chinking. The drywall is non-allergenic, made of 3/4-inch Advantech subfloor with 3/4-inch tongue and groove Brazilian Cherry with a satin finish. The house boasts handcrafted kitchen cabinets made with worm-eating chestnut wood. With a new HVAC system installed in 2021, comfort and peace of mind are assured. This log cabin is a truly unique and captivating retreat that combines rustic elegance with modern convenience.
