2225 Shryocks Ferry Rd, Versailles, KY 40383

The house was designed by the architect Gideon Shryock and built by Colonel Andrew Muldrow in 1817 on a scenic spot overlooking Grier's Creek, one mile from the Kentucky river. A stone building (for his law office) was added in 1819. This structure still stands next to the house. Descriptions and photographs of the original house (originally called 'Airy Mount') can be found in Clay Lancaster's definitive volume Antebellum houses of the Bluegrass. The House is also found in many other publications. In 1945 the house was partially destroyed by fire. The current building was constructed using the remaining structure including the original kitchen and breezeway. In 2003 a large barn/workshop was added. In 2004 two stalls and two paddocks (with plank fencing ) were added Other improvements include city water and buried utility lines.
