The bones of this house are excellent. I did a complete renovation of the kitchen, adding a rustic backsplash and installing a dishwasher (there are very few houses listed in this price range that offer a dishwasher in Madison). The main plumbing line was redone 4 years ago and a few part updates have been done on the furnace. I fenced the backyard and it is great for my dogs, but if you are looking and have young children; then this is a perfect starter home for you. The fence facing the neighbor's house is a 6ft high section and has made a world of a difference creating real privacy in the backyard. There is a balcony off the Master bedroom which is a great added bonus. The roof was completely redone in the past 10 years. However, according to a professional I spoke to the previous owners did not have it painted properly, so it has started to peel in a few spots. Unfortunate, but won't add enough extra value for me to do before selling as it is a merely cosmetic issue. My art studio/office has the potential to be a third bedroom with an update on the windows. There is an enclosed porch that is wonderful during the summer and could be used year-round with a window update as well. With some modernizing, this house would gain a lot of space and value.
