The cabin was originally built in 1900, presumably by gold diggers and trappers (there is a now-sealed mine shaft in front of the cabin), and later expanded around 1930. It is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), as per a study conducted by Cal Poly Pomona School of Architecture.
