    In thousands of acres of a quiet coastal wildlife refuge there are only three residential beach front properties in a secret paradise called Pine Beach. Few coastal spots on earth enjoy such breathtaking unspoiled beauty, where humans are rarer than heron and greatly outnumbered by fish and shore birds. The property was intended to be a development in the 1920’s. There were not yet roads to the Fort Morgan Peninsula, so the material for this home was brought by barge on the lagoon and transported by mules to the current location. With quiet and rest, with no noises save the sound of the surf, one may recreate the tired body and harried nerves.” In the present day, a road canopied with oaks and flanked by natural palms opens to a scenic drive between the lagoon and the lake. Across the dunes is a beach for those who crave privacy and who love the magic of authentic untouched beaches. The current home is a quaint cottage; there have been additions made to the 1920’s original structure. The screened porch with vaulted ceiling allows the salt breeze from the welcoming Gulf to cool the home as it passes through the strategically placed windows, and even almost 100 years later the only noise is the sound of the surf. While the home may be vintage for some and require upgrading for many, the charm is unmistakable and rare. The continued survival of the original home with no past water intrusion is a testament to the WWI Veteran who chose this homestead and who had the foresight to know that this spot was unlike any other.
