The fireplace surround, discovered during the restoration, is finished with a gas insert from Valor, and the space above the mantel is wired for a Frame TV. Upstairs, 10’ ceilings and solid oak flooring continue throughout. The primary suite, painted in an enviable Farrow & Ball color, includes an impressive walk-in closet as well as a hotel-worthy bathroom with a freestanding tub, Zellige-tiled shower, and dual sinks set in marble. Down the hallway, a laundry room with machines set at hip height hides behind a large pocket door, and two additional bedrooms share a hall bath outfitted with custom storage and a historic window with a glass privacy cover. In the basement level, found through a hidden door beside the main staircase, a 500 SF space can be used for storage or a playroom. This space has exterior access. 1000 Independence is a masterclass in historic preservation, color theory, and architectural excellence, and is truly a masterpiece on the Hill.
