This property is located in Cherokee Triangle, which is one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in Louisville, KY. The house is a Historic Registered Landmark, dating back to 1905. Apartment #3 is unusually large, approximately 1,175 sq. ft. It is walking distance to Cherokee Park, a 409-acre park that was designed in 1891 by Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed Central Park in NYC. It is perfect for running, cycling, exploring nature, photography, and just walking your dog.
This apartment is one block from the popular and eclectic Bardstown Road and 5-10 minutes from downtown, where one finds NuLu, a lively hub for art, dining, and design as well as Fourth Street Live, and Whiskey Row, among others; most hospitals are located downtown; cultural venues, such as Actors Theatre, Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, Muhammad Ali Center, Mellwood Art Center, 21C Museum Hotel, the Louisville Ballet, etc.; fine dining from Vincenzo's and Jack Fry's to casual dining from the beloved neighborhood Ramsi's Cafe of the World--one could could go on and on; and numerous local art galleries and studios, such as KMAC Museum.
Apt #3 is on the 2nd floor in the main house. Though in an historic building, the kitchen and bathroom were completely renovated in 2025, with new flooring, appliances, and walk-in shower. The apartment, however, has lost little of its historical charm with tall ceilings, elaborate baseboards, chandeliers, and original doors, windows, and hardwood floors.
This apartment is one of four on the property; there are also two furnished studios in the carriage house. These studios were meant to be short-term rentals for traveling medical folks, but stays have been longer recently. The apartments in the main house and #6 in the carriage house have year-long leases and are unfurnished and considerably larger. There is an original staircase that goes through the center of the house and accommodates the apartments. There is a stacked washer/dryer on the first floor.
Though I cannot offer off-street parking, there is ample space to park in front of the house. This is a safe neighborhood, and your car will most likely be untouched. I parked on the street for five years and had no problems, except for migrating birds when I foolishly parked under a tree.
Pets are welcome. The backyard is fully enclosed backyard for dogs who want to play safely off leash. I do ask that you stay with your dog while he/she is out there.
Because this is such an old house and listed on the Historic Landmark Registry and because this is my home, I must be very careful about the tenants who will live here.
The minimum duration of lease is one year for apartment #3. The lease is renewable upon request. If another person lives with the tenant, he/she must also be on the lease. The apartment cannot be sublet; a new lease would be required. A maximum of two people are to live in the apartment.
Rent includes Internet, television cable box (if used), water, trash, stacked washer/dryer on premises, and maintenance of common areas. Gas and Electrical (offered by LG&E) are the responsibility of the tenant.
This is a non-smoking property. If you do smoke, we will make some kind of arrangement that does not affect the other tenants.
Renter's insurance for your belongings and, if applicable, the actions of your pet, is required.
Pets are welcome. This includes a large or small dog. The backyard is completely enclosed, and there are waste bag containers on the walls. It is necessary that the tenant be present when dog is in backyard. There is a one-time $100 non-refundable fee, if you have a dog or cat.
Thank you for your willingness to comply with these abbreviated guidelines.
